Autistic children’s exhibition in city
Art & Culture Report : To introduce people with the term 'Autism' and the latent talents of special (autistic) children, students' association HANS organised a seven-day art exhibition from July 15 in the city's Drik Gallery under the title "Emerged from Unknown III." As many as 70 paintings of special children from various special schools were put on display in the exhibition. The exhibition ended yesterday. In Bangladesh, there is a common perception among general people that autistic people are disabled, incompetent and incapable. Through this event HANS wants to provide the general people with the right information about autism and autistic children that they are not disabled, they are creative. In the exhibition, the paintings were put on sale and the total amount earned would be given to the boy/girl who painted that. It will give a social recognition to the autistic child as an artist. Besides, by selling the paintings HANS will establish that people who are being neglected by the society can earn like general people through their talents, according to the organisers. The event organised by HANS as part of creating awareness about autism, in association with Surf Excel. The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition started with a press conference where Chairman of HANS Meer Sohrabul Hossain, judge of the competition eminent artist and Professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University Abul Barq Alvi. The exhibition was inaugurated by the artist Alvi later.
