Poem

.

The golden boat

Rabindranath Tagore

The cloud roaring in the sky, teeming rain
I sit upon the shore alone, in a state uncertain
The sheaves lie gathered, the harvest to an end comes
The river is full, the current flows fiercely like shining knives
While cutting paddy, it started to rain.

A small paddy field, no one but me
The rippled water all around playing
On the far bank is painted, by shadows of trees is inked
The cloud shrouded village in the morning
On this side a paddy field, I feel lonely.

Singing and paddling who is coming to the shore?
It seems that I have seen her before
Flying the sail she goes, nowhere she looks
Helplessly the waves are breaking both sides of river
It seems that before I have seen her.

Oh, where are you boating, to what foreign and?
Come to the bank and for a while do stand
Go where you wish, give whom you like
With moments of smile you just take
My golden paddy anchoring to my land.

Take as much as you want on the boat
Anything more? No, all is loaded, nothing is on float
What I gather, so long by the river
I gave all layer after layer
Now kindly take me on your boat.

No room, no room, the boat is too small
Loaded with my golden paddy the boat is full
The thick cloud on roaring sky roaming
On the bare bank of river, I left alone waiting
What had, all taken, the golden boat has taken all.

Longing

Tamoha Binte Siddiqui

The trees are wet, arrives the raindrops
I'm so lost in your love filled thoughts
If only I could be with you now
If only I could hold you for a moment.

The cold wind passes through me
Blows my wild hair, reveals my soft cheeks
If only you could love me now
If only I could live that moment forever.

The sky so angry and so dark.
Deep feelings for you in my heart
If only I could give myself to you now
If only we could be together for eternity.

The roads are in floods
I'm drowning in your love
If only you could give me your hand now
If only you could pull me out from here at last.

The air so full of chill
Your name on my heart's seal
If only I could sleep in the warmth of your arms now
If only I could never wake from that sleep again.

Travelers in the road soaked in water
I'm heavily soaked in your dreams
If only I could stand beside you now
If only there was no one around to bother about.

The clouds pouring out their sadness
My wishes burnt out to ashes
If only I could cry now too
If only the distance wasn't so great between me and you.
