BASIS Softexpo 2012 ends with fabulous show

The BASIS Softexpo 2012 ended with a colourful celebration, with laser show, fire spinning, award ceremony and fanush show - setting up 40 paper-made hot air balloons in the air on February 26. A host of awards were given to best stalls under four categories on the last day of the grand event.

Mahboob Zaman noted that Bangladesh's software export is having tremendous potential given that the revenue has this year doubled to nearly $29 million from about $14 million last year.
With more than 140 exhibitors, 20,000 corporate visitors and more than 80 technical sessions and seminars and presentations, BASIS Softexpo 2012 surpassed any of its previous expositions in terms of size and diversity.
Developing community adoption
The phpXperts Devcon held today at the Celebrity Hall discussed about new IT projects and software like HTML 5 and 3D modelling of shape and dimensions. PhpXpert is a community of IT professionals and new entrants in the IT sector.
According to php Expert Mahbubur Rahman, CTO, Blueliner Marketing Company at New York, "This kind of seminars allows IT students and professionals who work on php to interact and discuss their opinions about developing software." The community has plans to organise an International Conference with php experts soon.

Future of mobile financial services
Only 13% of Bangladeshi population is entitled to banking services. However, more than 80 million people are using mobile phones. Hence, mobile financial service has been a rather more efficient tool to deliver banking facilities to the people. The first successful country in this service is Kenya.
In Bangladesh, bKash and some other companies have come up with such mobile banking service.
The cost of banking in this process is relatively low and it is also secured. Mobile services in the country currently include utility bill payment, transportation tickets, top up etc. According to a survey of the World Bank, only 54% of the registered subscribers avail mobile financial services. Bringing the remaining world population within the coverage is a challenge for the investors of mobile financial service providers.
