Visual installation on rickshaw at AFD

.
Art & Culture Report:
The 360 degrees visual installation on rickshaws titled “Koto? Kothay?” based on sequences shot behind rickshaw-pullers filmed by Remi Veyrier was held recently at the La Galerie of the Alliance Francaise de Dhaka (AFD) which has captivated the audience.
“Koto? Kothay?” is a visual installation inspired by the work of the Berliner video jockeys who gave to electronic music its visual dimension in the beginning of the years 2000.
“Koto? Kothay?” turns our daily rickshaw rides on the streets of Dhaka into a fantastic 360° disturbing experience of sounds and pictures. Because art does not give or teach but suggests and inspires, “Koto? Kothay” does not have any other ambition but to work as an incubator of your own thoughts and reflections as a rickshaw customer. As we all sit behind men pedalling and as we are all accommodated to it, “Koto? Kothay?” speaks to all of us.
Even though he is still quite unknown in Bangladesh, it is said that Remi Veyrier, a French man, has already behind him quite an outstanding international heterogeneous artistic career.
From unreliable sources, he is considered, for many, as the pioneer of the contemporary French artistic movement “The Transcendental Artistism 2.0”. From what we know, he has been living in Dhanmondi since 1998, and it is not unusual to see him riding his rickshaw in the streets of Dhaka. His moto: “If you feel like you are the worst just act like you are the best”. This is how the project “Koto? Kothay?” was born. n
