Classical music festival begins today

A two-day series of classical music recital titled “Mayar Madhuri,” which is jointly organised by the Bengal Foundation and ITC-Sangeet Research Academy, will begin today.
The inaugural event of the festival features vocal classical music by the distinguished guru of ITC-Sangeet Research Academy, Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty to be held at the National Museum Auditorium in the city’s Shahbagh area at 7:00pm.  ‘Mayar Madhuri’ series of recitals will be inaugurated by eminent painter Qayyum Chowdhury who will be present on the occasion as the chief guest, while noted cultural personality and Managing Director of Desh TV, Asaduzzaman Noor MP will be present as special guest on the occasion.
Ravi Mathur, Executive Director of ITC-Sangeet Research Academy, and Abul Khair, Chairman of the Bengal Foundation, will also join the proceedings.
The second day of the festival features tabla presentation by a group of noted Bangladeshi musicians and a vocal classical recital by ITC-SRA senior scholar Brajeswar Mukherjee to be held tomorrow at the Bengal Shilpalaya in the city’s Dhanmondi area at 7:00pm.
This was disclosed at a press conference at Bengal Shilpalaya in the city’s Dhanmondi area yesterday.
Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, Director General of Bengal Foundation Luva Nahid Chowdhury, Chairman of Bengal Group Abul Khayer Litu, among others, were present at the conference.
