Divisional drama festival begins in Barisal

A 3-day college level divisional drama festival on Liberation War began at the Aswani Kumar Hall in Barisal  on Friday. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy organised the festival as ‘Liberation War in the light of performing arts’ (Shilper Aloy Mohan Muktijuddho) on the  occasion of 40 years of the independence of Bangladesh.
The inaugural ceremony of the festival was presided over by SM Arif-ur-Rahman, Deputy Commissioner and President of the district Shilpakala Academy and it was addressed among others by Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Munim, Divisional Commissioner, advocate SM Iqbal, former member of district Shilpakala Academy, Syed Dulal, Coordinator of the divisional festival. Under a special project Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy organises the country-wide college level competition selected one team from each of 64 districts of the country with special script and direction to enlighten the next generation for constructing a creative Bangladesh, Syed Dulal informed. Under that project six selected teams from six colleges of six districts of Barisal division are participating in the festival and 64 teams from 64 colleges of 64 districts of the country will stage their dramas on Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy which are to be staged in Dhaka from June 14 to 26, Dulal said.
As per schedule “Mukhosher Antoraley”, written by Shahidul Islam Shishir, directed by Nabila Nasrin of Govt Brojo Mohon College Barisal and “Beerpala”, written by Atanu Karanjai and directed by Anwar Shamim of  Bhola Govt College Bhola staged on Friday. “Banophuley Bishlata” written and directed by Animesh Saha Litu of Amanullah Mahabidayalaya of Bhandaria, Pirojpur and “Nijbhumey Porobashi”, written by Atiq Bablu and directed by Kazi Shafiq of Jhalakathi Govt College were staged yesterday evening.
“Toor” written by Zahangir Kabir Khokon and directed by Tuhin Khan of Barguna Govt College and “Agun Mukho”, written by M Nurul Islam and directed by Mujahidul Islam Prince of Patuakhali Govt College, to be staged today evening.
