25 injured in Sirajganj clash

At least 25 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over abduction attempt of a schoolgirl at Barabil village in Shahjadpur upazila on Friday.

Police said Abdullah, son of Karim Mollah of the village tried to kidnap Sharmin, a class X student and daughter of Roshnai Pramanik on her way back home from school on Thursday afternoon but failed as she raised hue and cry.

Protesting the incident Roshnai Pramanik went to the house of Karim Mollah Friday morning and demanded punishment of his son Abdullah.

Later, the supporters of Karim Mollah launched an attack on the house of Roshnai Pramanik at about 10am triggering a clash that left 25 people injured from both sides. The injured were admitted to different hospitals and clinics.

Two houses and a shop were damaged during the clash.

Being informed police rushed in and brought the situation under control. A case was filed.
