Jamaat office ransacked in Jessore

Six leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including a surah member and district unit ameer were injured as some Chhatra League activists attacked district Jamaat office in Jessore town  on Friday night.

Local people said Chhatra League activists brought out a procession at about 9pm protesting the killing of a fellow worker over gambling and the attack was made from the procession.

District unit Jamaat secretary Master Nurunnabi said the unruly activists vandalized the office, looted valuables and damaged 10 motorbikes. They also blasted bombs to create panic in the area, he said.

Surah member Maulana Azizur Rahman and district ameer Abdur Rashid were among the injured.

Additional Police Super Jakir Hossain Khan said police and RAB forces were sent to the spot.
