I want to regain popularity of Bangladesh's football: Chunnu

Former national footballer Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Chunnu said, "I want to regain the popularity of Bangladesh's football."
Chunnu, who is a candidate of Senior Vice-President of the
Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) spoke at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation House on Saturday.
Chunnu was a footballer, who played for Abahani Limited in the Dhaka Metropolis First Division Football League and was the captain of Bangladesh National Football team.
Besides, Chunnu was the former assistant general secretary of Bangladesh Football Federation and was also former deputy secretary general of Bangladesh Olympic Association.
Chunnu is now a Director of Abahani Limited, a popular football team of Bangladesh and is also the President of Narayanganj District Football Association.
Chunnu said, "if I shall be elected Senior Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation, I think a football lover will really be evaluated by the councilors, who will cast their vote for the BFF election 2012.
Chunnu said, "Once upon a time we are proud of Bangladesh's football. But now we see that Bangladesh's football is going to lost its past glamour. The popularity of Bangladesh is now in stagnant position and we see that there is a lethargic tendency in the activities of the officials of Bangladesh Football Federation.
Chuunu urged that the councilors can give him chance to act to regain the glamour of Bangladesh's football and also raise the new sun in the arena of Bangladesh's football.
Chunnu said, "The officials of Bangladesh Football Federation have a positive role in the eighties and in the nineties for the glorious football of Bangladesh. But after that we see that there is a stagnant attitude in their activities and Bangladesh's football failed to earn the supervision of Bangladesh Government. If we are elected by the councilors, we will altogether act for the betterment of Bangladesh's football."
Asahraf Uddin Ahmed Chunnu submitted some activities during his tenure as the President of Narayanganj District Football Federation.
Chunnu said in the year of 2010, a total of five players from Narayanganj got chance in the Bangladesh National Football team.
Chunnu said in the year of 2011, a total of four players got chance in the Bangladesh National Football team, while seven female footballers got chance to play in the Bangladesh National Women's Football team.
Narayanganj District team emerged as the champions of the recently concluded Bangabandhu Cup.
Besides, a good numbers of footballers are taking part in the different football leagues and competitions arranged by BFF.
Chunnu said there are 15 football training centres, which are working in Narayanganj to promote football.
Chunnu said Narayanganj Football team emerged as the champions for three times in the National League.
Besides, the football leagues (First Division, Second Division and Juvenile) are regularly staged by the Narayanganj District Football Association.
Chunnu assured that if he will be elected Senior Vice-President of BFF, he will revive the district football associations. He also assured that he will try his best to stage the Sher-e-Bangla Cup and Suhrawardi Cup on regular basis.
He added that he would try to arrange Inter-School, Inter-College, Inter-University Football Tournaments if he would be elected as the Senior Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation.
He also added that he would arrange the age group football competitions.
Chunnu said he would give more facilities to the Dhaka-based football clubs.
He also assured that he will stage Pioneer, Second and Third Division Football on regular basis if he could get chance to act for the football federation.
