Storms swept over differentvillages in different upazilas of Jessore, Khulna, Satkhira and Bagerhatdistricts leaving 10 people killed and 20 others injured on Saturday.
UNB Benapole Correspondent says,farmers Sumon Ali, 22, was instantly killed and Mizanur Rahman, 35, was injuredby thunderbolt when they were working at Sharifpur field at Basatpur village atBagachra in Sharsha upazila in Jessore during storm in the afternoon. Mizanurwas admitted to a local hospital in critical condition.
In Khulna: Lightning strikekilled Nasimul Ghani Ramjan, 20, HSC 2nd year student of Khulna Navy School& College and injured his batch-mate Farzana Ramjan during thunderstorm onthe bank of Bhairab River in the compound of Subodh Chandra Hostel of Govt BLCollege in the city's Daulatpur at 9 am. Badly burned Farzana, HSC (ScienceDept) 2nd year student of the city's Govt Baira Women's College and daughter ofLand Ministry official Ramjan Ali of Barakpur of Kotalipara of Gopalganjdistrict, was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital which referred her toKhalishpur Fair Health Clinic, which specializes in burn injury treatment. Bothused to reside in separate flats in Khalishpur Housing Area. In Satkhira: Lightning strikeskilled five people while another one was killed in a wall collapse as tornadohit different villages in Debhata, Patkelghata, Ashashuni and sadar upazilas inthe morning. The nor'wester also left 18 injured.
Daylabourer Nazmul Hossain, 25,was instantly killed and 15 co-workers injured, many of them seriously, asthunderbolt struck them when they were working defying storm under anemployment-generating project at Najirer Gher in Debhata at 9-30 am. Theinjured were admitted to local hospital.
