A preparatory meeting for the smooth holding of "ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014" to be held here from April 1-20 in 2014 was held on Wednesday at the conference room of the Ministry of Youth and Sports with State Minister for Youth and Sports M Ahad Ali Sarkar in the chair.
Bangladesh, for the first time is going to organize the heavyweight world class tournament--T20 World Cup --single handedly after successfully co-hosting the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and the Asia Cup Cricket in 2012.
A total of 16 men's teams and 10 women's teams will compete in the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 subject to the approval of ICC.
The day's meeting put emphasis on developing local cricket venues as most modern and fully international standard ones after making necessary development and renovation works as per prescription of International Cricket Council (ICC) for successful holding of T20 World Cup.
The meeting also gave importance to preparation of ground, player's dressing room, media centre, media facilities, VVIP, hospitality areas and general galleries in proper and modernized way.
The meeting also gave their consent to holding the women's part of World T20 in the country's tourist town of Cox's Bazar considering the practice facilities, accommodation, security, and airport facilities.
Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Mahbub Ahmed and high officials of National Sports Council and Bangladesh Cricket Board were present at the meeting.
