Boro procurement drive yet to start in Bogra

Boro paddy procurement has  not  yet  started in 16 districts in northern region in this season due to delay in getting work order from the authority concerned.
 However,  District Food Office sources  said ,  they will begin to collect Boro collection within two or three days. 
 Last year  because of matching it with the cost of production government has set up of collecting rice Tk 18 per KG of  Boro and Tk 28 per KG of  rice, district food officers added.
But the farmers and rice mill owners of N'region are not happy with the  government decision. Most of the farmers said, production cost has doubled between before last two years. The rate of workers, fuel, power and all types of things are increasing day by day that the official's rate of rice are not compared. 
Bogra District Controller of Food office source said, the collecting target of Boro would set up in the season as 51,261 metric tons and 5, 67,542 metric tons of rice. Whether 26,956 metric tons of Boro and 2, 78,352 tons of rice will be collected from 8 districts in Rajshahi Division and 24,305 tons of Boro and 2.89,190 tons of rice will  be collected from Rangpur Division.
Md. Jahirul Islam, Assistant Food Controller of Bogra said, they have received the government target of collecting rice. Rice collecting committee structure is almost completed with Deputy Commissioner , District Controller of Food (DC food), and District Agriculture Extension Officer  and a selected honorable man included in the committee. Rice will be collected within two or three days, he added.
Over 15 hundreds of rice mill owners of the district have been informed about it for collecting fresh and good qualities rice. Monitoring cell will conduct the Boro and  rice cprocurement drive , said district food officials.
