UCB First Women's Hockey Competition starts today

The United Commercial Bank (UCB) First Women's Hockey Competition starts today at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium. Bangladesh Hockey Federation will arrange the hockey meet under auspices of United Commercial Bank.
Narail District team will face Nahar Academy in the inaugural match, which starts at 2.00 PM.
Managing Director of UCB M Shafiqul Alam will formally open the hockey meet today as the chief guest while former secretary general of Bangladesh Olympic Association Bashir Ahmed will be present with him as the special guest.
A total of six teams splitting into two groups will participate in the first phase of the tournament.
Anandamaee Girls High School, Quamurnnesa Govrnment Girls High School of Dhanmondi, Municipal High School of Dinajpur have been slatted in Group A while Narail District team, Bandarban District team, Nahar Academy have been billed in Group B.
Top two teams from each group will play in the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will face each other in the final.
The champions will be awarded Tk twenty thousand while the runners-up will get Tk fifteen thousand and the Player of the Tournament will be given Tk five thousand as prize-money.
