Teachers of non-government primary schools on Thursday announced fresh programs to press for regularization of their job and realizing compensation for the family of a teacher killed in police action in the capital.
President of Non-Government Primary School Teachers' Association Bangladesh Mohammad Shamsul Alam announced the programs at a press conference at the National Press Club.
A primary school teacher Azizur Rahman, who was critically injured in the police action Tuesday, succumbed to his wounds on early Wednesday.
As per the fresh programs, black flag will be hoisted at about 25,000 primary schools while about one lakh teachers will wear black badges on May 20 to protest the police attack on their Tuesday's rally.
Wearing black badges they will stage demonstrations across the country and will place memorandum to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in between May 22-30.
Shamsul Alam said if the government fails to provide adequate allocation in the next national budget to be placed on June 7 to regularize the job of non-government primary school teachers, tougher programs will be announced on June 8.
He demanded stern punishment of police, who attacked their peaceful procession in the capital and urged the government to provide compensation of Tk 20 lakh to the family of teacher Azizur Rahman, a freedom fighter.
