The Khulna City Corporation {KCC} on Thursday proposed Taka 309.20 crore budgets for 2012-2013 financial years.
KCC Mayor Talukdar Abdul Khaleque announced the budget.
Of the total budget, Tk 63.38 crore will be available from KCC funds based on its revenues and the rest Tk 245.82 cr is expected to come from government allocations.
Of the proposed budget Taka 107.08 cr has been allocated for the development, construction and maintenance of the city.
In his speech, KCC Mayor said no new tax has been imposed on the city dwellers. The development work in the city will be done with funds collected by the KCC as corporation taxes. Imposing taxes on the newly constructed buildings and establishments and widening new income sources.
Terming this budget as development he said KCC is determined to improve and increase services tom the city people.
A plane has been designed to make the city clean and green with six projects worth Taka 108.68 core under the proposed budget, he said. The projects includes construction of a sanitary land field and a modern butcher house, a linear park, reconstruction and maintenance of drains, roads, procurement of machineries and transports for solid waste and replacement of lead bulbs in the streets.
The city Mayor also announced Taka 182.44 crore revised budget for the year 2011-2012.
Ward Counselors, elites of the city, top officials of KCC were present on the occasion.
