City schools, colleges start adjusting additional admission fees

As per a directive of the educational ministry, some of the educational institutions in the city started adjusting additional fees taken from students during their admissions.
BAF Shaheen College and Mirpur Bangla School and College have adjusted the additional fees and Adamjee Cantonment College will do it with permission of the army headquarters in the next session.
A four-member committee formed earlier to look into returning of additional fees to the students in 17 educational institution submitted its report to the education ministry today.  According to the report, Monipur High School and College realized an additional amount of Taka 5,23,76,100 from 3054 students while Motijheel Ideal School and College Taka 3,39,34,900 from 2667 students and Vikarunnesa School and College Taka 68,17,100 from 1627 students.
These three institutions could not adjust or return the additional fees in absence of approval of their respective governing bodies. The education ministry directed the authorities concerned to issue notices on those three institution giving one month time and take other necessary steps. The report said that seven institutions did not take any additional fees from the students during their admission.  No information was available regarding Agrani School and College and Shaheed Bir Uttam Anowar Girls' College on the issue.  Holy Cross Girls' School realized Taka 12,94,800 from 1034 students. As it is not under government's monthly pay order (MPO), the authorities said that they would spend the amount as salaries and allowances of teachers and employees.
