Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan Friday claimed that the homebound people are not facing any sufferings in the waterway. He came up with the remarks while addressing a discussion organized by 'Bangladesh Environment and Human Rights Implementation Association' at the National Press Club.

He said that people's sufferings decreased due to proper initiatives of shipping ministry. "Law enforcing agencies remain alert to ensure security in southern region of the country. A special team of coast guard, ansar and scout is working along with police and RAB members," said Shahjahan.

Mentioning that the opposition will go on movement after Eid to prevent democracy, he said, "The movement can not make democracy successful which has no connection with people."

With president of the organization Syed Abul Hossain Babla in the chair, the discussion was also addressed, among others, by Lion HS Ibrahim Bhuyan and secretary general Sujan De.
