Razzaque gets Purdue Agri Alumni Award

Food Minister Muhammad Abdur Razzaque received the Distinguished Agriculture Alumni Award 2013 of the Purdue University of Indiana, the United States on March 1. The minister along with eight other alumni of the US university were given the award for their outstanding accomplishments, and for significant contributions to the society, said a Food Ministry press release on Monday.
Razzaque started his professional career as a scientific officer at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), and was promoted to the rank of the chief scientific officer of the country's apex agriculture research organisation later on.
"It's clear that Dr Razzaque has had an enormously positive influence on food production, food security and the ability of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to withstand natural disasters," said his nominator Joe Anderson, head of Purdue's Department of Agronomy, at the Alumni publication.
