Two temples set on fire in Bagerhat

Some miscreants set fire on two  temples-one in Bagerhat Sadar and the other in Chitalmari Upazilas in the district on the night of Tuesday, according to report received here.
Aktaruzzaman Baschu, Chairman of Karapara Union Parishad under Bagerhat Sadar Upaziila  said that at the night at 11 pm some miscreants set fire on the corridor of the local Shitaltala Kali Mandir (temple). Being informed of the matter as soon as the villagers, irrespective of cast, creed and religion, rushed to the spot the miscreants fled away.
 Abu Zihad Fakrul Alam Khan, Inspector (investigation) of Bagerhat Model PS discloses to the newsmen that a little portion of the corridor of the temple was burnt, but there was no extensive damage. He adds that steps were already taken to arrest the culprits responsible for that. On the other hand, Ananta Kumar Kirtonia, president of Uttarpara public Kali Mandir of village Kuraltala within Hizla Uinon Parishad under Chitalmari Upazila tells the newsmen that at the night some miscreants set fire on the idols of God Shiva and Goddess Kali with the help of something from the out side as the temple was under lock and key. As a result the wearing of the idols and their canopy were burnt. Molla Maniruzzaman Officer-n-charge of Chitalmari PS tells the newsmen that being informed of the matter from the members of the Mandir committee police visited the place of occurrences. He adds that measures were already taken to arrest the miscreants.
